The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Brain Tumours has released a report into the economic and social costs of brain tumours to the UK. Their findings highlight the unmet healthcare need in this area and the need for innovative new treatments to be developed. They also estimated the economic cost of brain tumours to the UK to be £578 million pounds a year, the 3rd highest of all cancers despite a relatively small patient population. They also estimated the annual cost to households affected by brain tumours to be £14,783 compared to £6,840 for all cancers.
